Cat Window Perch

I wasn’t sure if the cats would like the window perch when I brought it home from the pet store but after I saw their reaction to the first one I installed in the kitchen I had to get another window perches! The cats just love them!

We have one heated perch for our kitchen window where they like to take turns sleeping or watching the birds and in the bedroom they love to hop up in the morning and watch the birds and action in the pine trees out front.

It is well known that cats love to sunbathe and the cat perch and cat hammock is capable of solving this problem. Hanging on the windowsill with a brace or directly to the window with suction cups, your cat can lay on this resting seat and enjoy sunshine, so cozy.

This is a cat window perch and a space saving cat bed. It’s made by PVC pipe, covered by oxford cloth, and supported by four suction cups. Suction cups are distinguishable, it’s allowed to be fixed by any level of window without tool and installed in seconds. But, suction cups’ contact surface must be clean and without any dust, since dust will weaken cat bed’s bearing capacity. If suction cups keep falling, put water on it, suction cups will absorb firmly.

We have 3 window perches at the house.

1: The K & H Kitty Sill The bedroom overlooks the morning dove roost and the pine trees so Casper can watch the birds from his fluffy perch. I like the ornate supports that hold it in place against the wall, it uses velcro to attach to the window sill.

2: Thermo Kitty Sill With Fleece Cover
This is one of the perches that our three cats fight over. It sits in the kitchen window and they can watch the pond and the blue-jays feeding on peanuts. The heating pad gives off a steady low heat that is just enough to keep them cozy day or night. The cats will sleep there for hours!

3: Suction Cup Mounting Window Bed
This was one perch we bought with a bit of hesitation because it didn’t look like it would hold but wow this a great cat p[erch for the window! It has four over-sized suction cups that grip and hold onto the window so it can hang without worry! We have our in the living room window and put one of our cat blankets on the perch to give some extra padding. It’s super simple but the cats really love it!

Basic Cat Training

White cats are similar to normal cats. They could be disobedient or the contrast. However, in order to leave peacefully without cleaning up poop everywhere or getting controlled by your cat, training is necessary. Cat training is now your goal in order to make your feline well-behaved.

You will not know why your cat does what he or she does. Sometimes, you got to give up and simply live with it. However, while your cat is still young, it would be nice to train them what to do. Would you rather live with your cat urinating on your doormat?

Cat could also do the sit training. Dogs are not the only animals smart enough to sit. Cats, when trained by saying “Sit” and praising them, could also follow all along. You may give treats or pat your cat whenever he or she follows.

Use tasty treats. If you have resources of tastiest food for your white cat, such as baby food, tuna bites, and chicken cubes, you may use them. These tasty treats somehow empower you to get your white cat’s attention. To introduce the treat to your cat, you have to hold it right at his or her nose.

The training has to be done regularly to make your cat understand what you imply. As mentioned above, experience is what makes them follow. The basic tips given for white cat training are very useful if you want to end the days of suffering, such as early morning meowing distractions.

Common Health Concerns of White Cats

Usual Deafness of Pure White Cats

According to experts, pure white cats with blue eyes are more likely to be deaf. This is a hereditary concern, which means by birth, the cat has acquired the inability to hear.

Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine stated that deafness is a major concern in a white cat, especially if he or she has blue eyes. They are naturally healthy and happy. White cat healthy weight is similar to normal cats. However, you have to keep them indoors.

Keeping them safe at home would avoid situations that they need to use auditory cues. White cat may be prone to accidents if he or she will not be able to hear threats, such as from roaming animals.

Your Cat May Not Be Just White but an Albino

Cat health care includes know what your feline really is. Be reminded that your cat may not just be white, but an albino. Albino cats are known for being born with a genetic condition wherein they have lack of pigmentation.

If you will take a closer look on the eyes and skin of albino cats, they have differences compared to normal white cat. For instance, albino cats usually have two different eyes colors. In addition, the spectrum of an albino cat’s eye color is limited due to lack of color in his or her body. You may notice that his or her eye may be pinkish-blue, pinkish, or very pale blue.

The Possibility of Skin Cancer in White Cats

Repeated exposure of cats to harmful rays of the sun may result to squamous cell carcinoma. According to experts, the cancerous tumors may appear on eyelids, ears, and the nose. It could be very fatal more than it is painful.

If you want to prevent your white cat from being possibly affected by the cancer, assure that he or she is kept indoors. Most importantly, do not expose him or her to the sun.

There is one case wherein a white cat named Arthur died due to skin cancer. Though she lived for 18 years old and became an indoor cat, she still died of cancer that has been apparent on her nose and ears.

Prevention is better than cure, and when it comes to white cat, it starts with identifying his or her distinction to other cats. By knowing the given white cat health issues, you have precautionary measures in taking care of your pet properly.
